Generous donation of 40,000 beauty products helps SafeNet raise over £3,000

SafeNet is experiencing the true spirit of Christmas giving, thanks to a generous donation of cosmetics and body care products from THG (The Hut Group).

Over 40,000 branded beauty products, including make-up, hair products, skin care and baby essentials, have been donated by the Manchester based e-commerce company.

Formerly known as The Hut Group, THG owns brands across beauty, nutrition and ingenuity, including big names like Look Fantastic, Glossy Box, Illamasqua, Espa and MyProtein.

After seven pallets of items were delivered, members of SafeNet’s Business Development Team, Lisa Durkin, Jo Claessen and Year of Service Admin Assistant, Gabi Jakubowska, have been working hard to get things ready.

Together, they unloaded, organised and created over 400 gift sets for the ‘Pop -Up Shop’ and residents.

Talking about the delivery, Lisa explained: “We never know what we’ll get on each delivery from THG. It’s like Christmas Day unboxing it all and it always smells amazing!

“We’re so grateful to THG and their incredibly generous donations of products for families in refuge & to help with our fundraising targets. Me, Gabi and other volunteers set up a production line of picking, packing & bow tying!”

Lisa’s has set a target to generate over £5,000 this Christmas for SafeNet from sales of the donated products, which are being sold to colleagues, family and friends as beauty bundles and gift sets through pop-up shops and other events.

The Christmas ‘Pop -Up’ Shop held at Calico raised an amazing £3000.

All money raised from sales are going straight back into SafeNet, funding activities for women, men and children living in refuge and buying essential items for survivors who come to refuge with few personal possessions.

As well as fundraising from donations, 1000s of beauty products and care essentials will be given as Christmas gifts and welcome packs for women, men and families living in the refuges across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

Skin care items such as face serums, foot balms and hair masks are also being kept aside for resident pamper nights – a favourite activity in many SafeNet refuges.  Others will be used for birthday gifts and Mother’s Day presents.
