SafeNet families enjoy bonfire event thanks to Burnley Together

Women and children staying at SafeNet Refuge will remember, remember the fifth of November this year, after receiving free tickets to attend Towneley Bonfire and Firework display.

Families from the refuge, which supports women and children escaping domestic abuse, were generously gifted 50 tickets for the event from Burnley Together.

The Children & Young People’s Support Worker at SafeNet, said: “We all had a fun night at Towneley Bonfire. We’d like to say thanks to Burnley Together for the kind donation of the tickets.

She continued: “The adults and children enjoyed the funfair as well as the fantastic bonfire and firework display”.

Set in the grounds of Towneley Park and organised by Burnley Council, in partnership with the Friends of Towneley Park and Brunshaw Action Group, the bonfire is an annual family event with a funfair, bonfire and two fireworks displays: one for younger children and a main display later.

Bonfire Night events can be a great chance to bring everyone together, giving them a chance to spend time with each other and make memories.

Safenet’s Burnley refuge provides safe accommodation for women and children. As many families live in their refuge, they provide an in-house Children & Young People’s Service.

This gives children a positive environment to express their thoughts and feelings, both verbally and through drawing, writing, painting and free or structured play.

Burnley Together is a partnership of local organisations offering a variety of services to our local community. Part of The Calico Group, they provide a variety of free information, support and guidance to communities across Burnley and Padiham, including food support, career advice, free events and more.
