People across Lancashire are being encouraged to support Safenet in a new community funding initiative that could help strengthen support for survivors of domestic abuse.
For the first time, Lidl is giving customers the opportunity to vote for local charities through its Lidl Plus app, with £500,000 being shared between good causes across the country. Safenet has been shortlisted as one of five organisations in its region, giving local people the chance to support the charity’s work with a simple vote.
The campaign is being run in partnership with Neighbourly and allows Lidl Plus customers to choose which local cause receives funding. Voting is open from 24 September to 7 October, with every shortlisted organisation guaranteed at least £1,000. The charity that receives the most votes will be awarded £10,000.
Safenet provides specialist support for women, children and men affected by domestic abuse across Lancashire. Working alongside survivors, the charity helps people find safety, rebuild confidence and take positive steps towards independent futures.
Any funding received will help Safenet continue delivering these vital services while raising awareness of the support available to those experiencing domestic abuse.

Voting through the Lidl Plus app only takes a few moments. Customers simply need to click the voting banner on the home page, select their region and choose their preferred cause. Before casting a vote, they can also visit each organisation’s Neighbourly profile to find out more about their work.
Safenet is encouraging supporters, partners and local communities to get involved and spread the word before voting closes.
Results are expected later in October, with funding awarded according to the final vote rankings.
